Premier League Darts: Luke Littler's jibe at 'flat' Aberdeen crowd 'we need another Scottish player to bring up atmosphere'

Luke Littler jokingly said that Premier League Darts is in need of another Scottish player "to bring up at the atmosphere" as he reacted to a 'flat' Aberdeen crowd after his victory on Night 13.

The world champion enjoyed a fine night, coming from behind to beat Luke Humphries 6-5 in the final, but was subjected to the boos and jeers that have become customary for Littler throughout much of this year's Premier League Darts campaign.

But a 'relaxed' Littler was all smiles after the nightly win took him back to the top of the table, leapfrogging Johnny Clayton with three Premier League nights to go before the final on May 28 at the O2, live on Your Site.

"I was definitely relaxed tonight," Littler said in his press conference. "Obviously the crowd was a bit flat tonight. I think all the players said that. But, another win, and I'll take it as it comes.

"I think I said maybe last week or the week before Rotterdam was the loudest crowd I've ever played in front of and I got past it. Won a few games, lost in the final. Now we can just focus on the O2."

Littler had earlier joked in his immediate post-victory interview: "The crowd were okay tonight, but definitely not the loudest. I think we need another Scottish player in the Premier League to bring the atmosphere up a little bit!"

Littler's win marks the latest showcase of his glittering recent form, reaching three finals in as many weeks.

"You always do the hard work in the early stages and then the final you kind of relax a bit. Um and yeah, obviously I've got a very good record in the Premier League.

"I want to get my hands back on the trophy, but I've only got to focus on the semi-final when it does come around."

The 19-year-old was also full of praise for his opponent in the final, who returned to form with crucial wins against Michael Van Gerwen and Gian Van Veen before eventually succumbing to Littler.

"[Luke Humphries] needed that one tonight. Even the the win against Michael [Van Gerwen] was really crucial for him. He's slowed his throw down just that little bit, and yeah, it was flowing.

"His worst leg was the last leg. I just took full advantage. Hopefully he can back it up in Leeds and hopefully he can win in in his in his home ground."

Your Site Darts' Wayne Mardle:

"Before the Premier League started, Littler had four wins in year one, six in year two, and surely it was going to be seven, eight, nine here, but then it kind of stalled for a little bit.

"But the way he's dealt with it the last two weeks - that final was not a coast, it was a hard game.

"He gets through all the pressurised moments better than anyone else. That's the difference.

"No one handles stressful situations on a dartboard better than Luke Littler right now. That's why he wins.

"When you are 5-3 up in the final, that's a missed opportunity for Humphries.

"If you've got the throw to win a tournament or a night, you feel like you've had the opportunity.

"Unfortunately, Luke Littler decided 'I'm not going to give you a chance to win'

"Humphries broke Littler in 10 darts, but he didn't take the opportunity afterwards due to the brilliance of Littler.

"He's in a way better spot than he was before the night began, it's three welcome points. He's got to believe he can somehow still make the Play-Offs, but tonight will still be bitterly disappointing for him."
