Formula 1 is back after over a month off and it returns with a Sprint weekend in Miami as the 2026 season resumes.
Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers' Championship after back-to-back wins in China and Japan, holding a nine-point advantage over Mercedes team-mate George Russell.
Mercedes have won each of the opening three races so far but tweaks to the regulations and the five-week break mean the pecking order could change as every team brings upgrades to Miami.
Ferrari and McLaren will be hopeful they have closed the gap to Mercedes as Lando Norris returns to the track where he won his maiden Grand Prix in 2024.
Oscar Piastri came close to stopping the Mercedes winning streak last time out in Japan but was unfortunate with the timing of a Safety Car, while the fast-starting Ferraris should also feature towards the front of the field, giving Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton another chance to get on the podium.
Max Verstappen is only ninth in the standings and recently revealed he was considering his future in F1, so attention will be on what he thinks about changes to the power unit regulations and whether he is still serious about his quit threat.
Since it is a Sprint event, there is just one practice session before going straight into Sprint Qualifying on Friday night and competitive action for the remainder of the weekend in Miami.
Miami joined the F1 calendar in 2022 and the track layout offers plenty of good chances for overtaking, with moves possible at the end of the long straights down to Turn 11 and Turn 17.
Being a street circuit, the walls are close, so mistakes will be punished. But to be quick, you need to be right against the barriers.
The weather in Miami is currently set to be dry and hot on Saturday with an air temperature of around 30C.
However, thunderstorms are currently forecast for race day on Sunday with a high chance of rain impacting the Grand Prix.
