Bromley 0-0 Cambridge: The Ravens blow chance at promotion from League Two with goalless draw at Hayes Lane

Bromley's promotion to League One was delayed once again as Cambridge United held them to a goalless draw at Hayes Lane.

The U's should have scored inside the opening 15 minutes. Ben Knight poked wide of Grant Smith's goal when clean through on goal before Dominic Ball did the same, screwing a shot inches wide from Liam Bennett's cutback.

It took 25 minutes for Bromley to fashion their first sight on goal. Omar Sownunmi's header bounced over the crossbar with goalkeeper Jack Walton beaten.

Cambridge had another sight of goal on the half hour when Shayne Lavery sent a header against the bar from Adam Mayor's cross.

The second half took some time to burst into life but Knight's fierce drive on the angle drew a sharp reaction save from Grant Smith.

That woke the hosts up and Ben Thompson saw an effort from close range saved by Walton before Jude Arthurs' follow-up chance was deflected over.

With 10 minutes remaining, Smith did brilliantly to tip Kelland Watts' header over but despite a late goalmouth scramble for Bromley, neither side could find a way through.
